Application Process
Find a Sponsor Program
Identify a US Department of State-designated sponsor organisation that offers a J-1 program matching your goals — research, internship, teaching, etc.
Receive Form DS-2019
Your sponsor issues Form DS-2019 (Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor Status). This is required for your visa application.
Apply & Attend Interview
Complete the DS-160 application, pay the SEVIS I-901 fee, and attend your consular interview with your DS-2019 and supporting documents.
