Work in Dubai with an Employment Visa
The UAE Employment Visa is the primary work authorisation for skilled professionals relocating to Dubai. Sponsored by a licensed UAE employer, it grants you legal residency, tax-free earnings, and the right to bring your family — all in one of the world's most prosperous cities.
What is the UAE Employment Visa?
The UAE Employment Visa (also called the UAE Residence Visa for Employment) is an official authorisation issued by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) that permits a foreign national to live and work in the UAE under a specific employer's sponsorship.
Your employer initiates the process through the Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation (MOHRE) by obtaining a work permit. Once approved, an entry permit is issued, allowing you to enter Dubai, complete a medical fitness test, and receive your Emirates ID and residence visa — valid for 2 years and fully renewable.

Built for Global Professionals
Zero Income Tax
Keep 100% of your salary. Dubai levies no personal income tax, giving you a significantly higher take-home pay compared to most Western countries.
Family Sponsorship
Once your visa is stamped, you can sponsor your spouse and dependent children. They receive UAE residency and access to schools, healthcare, and employment.
Emirates ID & Legal Status
Your Emirates ID serves as your primary identity document in the UAE — required for banking, healthcare, driving, and government services.
World-Class Infrastructure
Live and work in a city with first-class connectivity, 5G networks, luxury real estate, and global transport links to 240+ destinations.
Job Mobility Since 2022
UAE labour reforms now permit employees to change employers without losing residency — as long as the new employer files a valid work permit transfer.
Gateway to Golden Visa
Strong performance in certain professions and salary thresholds can qualify you for the UAE Golden Visa — a 10-year residency with no employer dependency.
Eligibility Criteria
Employer Requirements
Your UAE sponsor must be a licensed business in good standing. They bear responsibility for your work permit, visa, and compliance with UAE labour law throughout your employment.
Step-by-Step Process
Secure a Job Offer
Receive a formal offer letter from a UAE-licensed employer specifying your role, salary, and contract duration.
Work Permit Approval
Your employer submits a work permit application to MOHRE. Approval can take 3–5 working days for most professions.
Entry Permit Issued
GDRFA issues an entry permit once MOHRE approves the work permit. This allows you to enter the UAE.
Medical Fitness Test
After arriving in Dubai, undergo a mandatory medical examination (chest X-ray and blood test) at a GDRFA-approved centre.
Emirates ID Registration
Submit biometrics at an ICA registration centre. Your Emirates ID is issued within 5–10 working days.
Residence Visa Stamping
The UAE residence visa stamp is placed in your passport by GDRFA, completing the Employment Visa process.
